Anyone here know a little about insurance laws ?
I had a house to burn and am half owner . My cousin had been staying there and it burned to the ground . Did not even tell me . Just found out a few weeks ago . He got the insurance money and took off . He had been paying the insurance but half of that house was mine . What do I need to do ? File a civil suit on him ? Have no idea where he took off too .
Thanks for any help . One resone I have not been flying . Been doing alot of reading on state and insurance law's and it's a bunch of it .

I got a attorney working on a piece of land now that is land locked at $250.00 a hour . Damn women suing me for a right away . Can't really afford another one . Man this sucks bad .

Just read this in a law forum : { If you are not the "named insured" on the policy, you aren't going to see one dime of the insurance money. Period. }
Wonder if I can get a copy of the policy ?

Did you sign any documents stating that the house is half yours through the bank? Do you have any documental proof that this house was half yours through a previous owner. Have you singed any documents related to any sort of insurance regarding this house? Have you you contacted the insurance agency?
You have to get an attorney, or the only thing you can do now is go to small claims court with him, if you file a suit he cannot run too far, or face imprisonment. If you have documented proof, you may have a chance of getting a reward. However, if you do not have signed eveidence that you had an insurance claim on the house, then you will not get a reward regardless, even if the house is part yours.

The home was my grandmothers . she had five kid's . When she died in 2010 the house was never prorated . So the home suppose to go to the remaining two kid's . So the home was just setting there and my cousin moved in and started fixing it up . I did not know about the insurance but I can tell how the fire started me use to rebuild burn out's for insurance company's . H e put a new close dryer in and turned it on and left for work . The wires over heated in the wall and burned it to the slab . I went and got a copy of the deed and it show's his name and other on it just like that (his name and other}. Other is what get's me . The well showed it was suppose to be handed down the line to the grand kids . Thanks for the help . I'm about a basket case right now .
EDIT: Oh and the fat fuck did not even pay the land tax of eight hundred bucks in 2013 .

It's insurance fraud to insure an interest in something that isn't yours. If you own half, you may insure your half. You may not insure someone else's half. He's in civil and criminal trouble actually. how did he get the policy without the title work? You cannot simply buy homeowners insurance. |

Not sure . I called The state of Mississippi fire marshal and I got to send him some paper work and he said he find out every thing and let me know . He said he can be in big trouble .
