Lets bring an actual topic here to public that is current at bbs that we cannot really talk about freely there. Anybody reading this that is not signed up yet on our forum, feel free to join the discussion.
So the way I understand the record of events, the Abusement Park was shut down after HTC realized it was not a real "in game" squad and was associated to Bluberry, the leet hacker of aces high. First of all, Blu has explained this "hacking" thing to us in private and it was extremely mild, an arguable oversight or lapse of judgment years ago. To label him "a hacker" is laughable if the story he has told is truthful, which I believe it to be. I'll let him explain if anybody cares and you can make your own assessment. Second of all, Bluberry created a 2nd account in game to be able to create the Abusement Park forum per Skuzzy's requirement that a forum must be linked to an in-game squad. That is, he paid HTC $15 dollars/month extra to open a forum. Hitech explained the violation as, he bypassed the system to create his own little playground. That's an interesting way to spin it when a customer is willing to pay you $15 more a month to entertain your customer base. Side bar: When I created Ze Luftvhiners Alliance forum, I was not asked to link it to an in-game squadron and Skuzzy opened it without question, and even added the description "A gathering place for luft whiners". Contradictions?
After they shut down the Abusement Park forum, some little weasel named TheForce pointed out that there are other groups such at ZLA, DFC, and SAPP that have openly operated as a group/club for years on the board with no issue and how it is contradictory to shut down the abusement park and not the others. Clearly, the intent of this post was to point HTC in the correct direction to reassess their decision in forcing bbs forums to be linked to a squad in game. It does not make sense and is anti -fun to shut down these avenues of taking a discussion private or conversing with people of similar interests. So instead of taking a step back, and retracting their statement, they triple down and start deleting other forums associated with player groups. Will DFC and SAPP be shutdown next? Who knows but it feels like it, and that would be a damn shame.
In my opinion HTC takes themselves and their BBS rules and statements way too seriously. They do not conduct themselves in a manner that makes them likeable. To me, gaming mods and devs should be polite, open minded, candid, pragmatic, accepting to change, accepting to new ideas, engaged with the player base, and involved in polarizing debates. It's like they are afraid to say "You know what, we hadn't considered that and will take a look at it as soon as we can. Currently we are all hands on deck on this new update but you guys have a valid argument and we will take a look at it as soon as we push this update out the door and work through the bugs." It is frustrating that they think stonewalling the player base with a gag order is the best way to handle player questions and complaints. It is mind blowing. They also seem to be afraid to say "You know what, we made an error in judgment and are going to take another look at this issue." Personally, I would be thrilled if they would show a semblance of humility from time to time. Admitting you are wrong does not show incompetence, it shows wisdom. Refusing to admit you are wrong, shows arrogance and immaturity.
Anyways, this is my little soapbox, feel free to discuss.
