The score system is one of the best features of the game.. I'm not a score whore by any means, but it gives you quite a bit of info to look over. No other game gives you that much info besides the Wings of Liberty server in IL2: Battle of Stalingrad. It also happens to be the most popular server.

I love the scoring model in this game. I think it's one of the best scoring models I've seen in a lot of games. One thing that is great is the score starts over every month. Another is that it doesnt only score you based on the amount of time/exp played. I hate that type of scoring. Im a #s guy so I enjoy analysing my stats.
Hitechs problem is that he is tying to compete with too many games right now without the investment or the employee base to make the game that big. Everyone on the forum is now arguing with me about how great tanks are and I'm sitting here thinking tanks are not the reason why we picked up this game, planes are. Now Hitech is trying to compete with World of Fucking Tanks and BF4 now, not just DCS, War Thunder, or BoB. They don't have a map making team, the DA furball area sucks, tanks are meant to be sneaky, not used in Tank town stealing the player base with no dar or activity showing on the map. I mean jesus chrsit. It's too damn hard for people to get interested because they don't know how to find any action, much less fly the plane. Hitech knows all of this, but because he doesn't have a team to help him solve problems and work on new maps or issues, he has to do it himself, which takes time. It's just dissappinting. I wish I could freaking buy this company and hire Hitech as coader because his leadership inside the company is not beneficial to his vision of the game play he imagines. I love the game and his desire to build the game but damn, I'd hate to see it go under out of spite to making a few very simple adjustments to the current game.

Score is stupid, pointless, and don't mean a damn thing. Score has never once, nor will it ever, show a person's skill level. For that to happen a person would have to play at their utmost peak of skill non-stop, all day everyday, and that simply will never happen. I've been racking my brain lately trying to thing of new ways the gameplay can go. Someway to make the strats a more important asset, funnel fights more so big maps aren't a snooze-fest while still giving freedom to attack what you want so it doesn't feel like an on-rails experience. The gameplay needs a complete rework, not just a face-lift. BTW, Is there retarded lens flare still in the current version of the beta? The graphics looked a bit better than the current game, though still lacking compared to other games, but the thing that just ruins the entire experience was that stupid ass lens flare that would reflect off of literally everything! The sun, gun fire, hit sprites, flames, just everything had a lens flare! I've been outside a lot in my life and I have never one come across such an abundance of lens flare. I took the liberty to create a new cover art for HTC's AH3. I hope you all like it

I read that nobody even showed up to the last KOTH monthly contest. That's not a great sign. They really need to push AH3 out fast, and get to work advertising and spreading the word - they hired some girl a couple years ago to do PR, and she made exactly THREE posts, and maybe a dozen Twitter/Facebook posts. There are hundreds of thousands of players playing War thunder, World of Tanks, IL2, DCS, and other sim games...the players are out there, HTC just needs to get them, and modify their subscription model a bit - not eliminate it, just change it.
Same with score, I like the ability to look stuff up to, and agree with Labtrobe that it isn't a great metric for skill/ability, but the problem is most of the MA thinks it is. It's sort of a paradox - again, I like it too, last time I used it I flew the Ki43 only for a month and tried to maintain a 5k/d and 10 k/hour, and that kept me interested in the game for around 30 days, however too many MA players are married to those stats, and freak out if something affects them. My next month after that last one I had a 1.7 k/d and 9k/hour, and don't care either way. There has to be some solution to keep the score and ability to look up stats, yet not have players so concerned about them that they refuse to fight. I like the icon reduction range idea, that would be a GREAT start IMO, reduce it to 3.0, it makes a massive difference, the first time I flew FSO it blew me away how much different it was, and how much more surprise played a part in the game. That's an idea I hope makes it into Ah3.

The only reason I always have a high fighter score is just because that's how I play. I'm aggressive, quick, fast and like to get as many kills a sortie as I can, I don't really like dying. That relates to a high score. Im also highly competitive. I never had a problem with no scoring in H2H, but I'm just a numbers guy and like to challenge myself with different planes and statistics. Most of the people who actually play the game for score are not that good. It's shame that planes like the 190D are not perked because they really are starting to become a pain in the ass as they run away every time.
Then I get ridiculed on the forum with my very thought-out and informed solutions to make the game more exciting. But apparently everyone just wants to sit in a Tank in TT and masterbate all night pushing a trigger watching grass grow. I just don't get it. The game is dying and the community is full of idiots who can't rationally understand that tank players are not the predominant market in AH, while the bordem of the people who like planes is increasing, as they cancel their subscriptions. It's almost as bad as the liberals refusal to acknowledge Muslim Jihad, but that's another story.
That's a great picture art Latrobe. Have you showed it to Hitech?

How many subscriptions does this guy need to keep this game running, anyway? It seems like there's even less people on now than when I was flying back in January/February. Now most nights are between 150-200. Obviously there's more subscribers than that - but just how many, I wonder.
Staff, insurance, rent, utilities, taxes, etc... He's got to be close to breaking? I guess the cost of living is cheaper in Texas but if this game was based in New England it'd be long gone.
I agree with you, gman, that getting AH3 out is more important than getting VR support going, but on the other hand, that might be the only thing that saves this game (if the support/experience for that is better than the competitors... But really if they're making more money/have more staff you'd think that any advantage would be short-lived.

Well, the problem is trying to make suggestions only relates to : "You just want to change the game to how you want to play". I'm sitting there, so you are defending that it's okay players are quiting every month because Hiteck refuses to make a couple of tiny adjustments to enhance the gameplay. But no, they would rather defend failure. It's just amazing to me.

I wonder how maxed out Hitech's credit cards are now...
Are there any other games left that are kind of like this or are they all Axis v. Allies?

Well, I use my old roommates account and he plays doda all the time. I really only get to play games late nights on the weekends, unfortunately. I only play AH and BF4 on Origin. Mostly just AH though. Do you have an Origin account? Friday is the day I normally get to play on because my GF typically goes to bed early around 10:15. I'm hoping to be able to play in the KoTH coming up soon.

HTC has other revenue streams aside from AH - large ones from what I've heard, government and TV contracts, as well as developing for other software companies. This is why, IMO, AH2 suffered stagnation for so long in the late 2000s = HT had these other projects, plus got a Russian wife and had children.
