Ah yes, we've had this chat before, I had forgot about your bow making. I have a custom English longbow built here in Canada by one of the more famed manufacturers. I can't do it as much as I used to, but when I'm able to shoot it, it's a lot of fun, there is a large club in Calgary doing English and Mongolian, and some Japanese archery, a strange combo, but wth. I have video of a shoot somplace, over 60 of us launching a volley of 5 arrows each - when you think about how it scales up, it must have been a frightening prospect having 5000 archers firing on you.
Making your own arrows, any vids of doing that? I tried with somebody once, the only thing I got good at was swearing.
Bat do you ever shoot with the Frat of St George? If I was in the UK I'd be all over it, next time I'm there I'm going to see if I can at least watch, if not shoot with them.

pervert , What do you charge to make a long bow . I am going back to the long bow in my hunting and put my crossbow away . The crossbow is to hard to reload and takes to long for that second shot .

I tried flint napping once, really hard. I ended up smashing a flint with a club hammer and then just picking the bits that looked ok out of the debris! Perv, I saw that guy before, some crazy skills. Not sure how practical any of it would be, for a start I think he uses a 35lb toy bow. But still impressive none the less. Gman, I didn't hook up with anyone yet though I contacted the company of Hollyrood with a guy on youtube called BigBowBrum. Hoping to get down and meet them one day. There is a re-enactment group celebrating the 600th anniversary of Agincourt sometime this year. They plan to get as many archers as possible to fire some volleys. Might try and get involved with them if I can make it. I'd love to see that video of you guys firing volleys. I make my own arrows only up to a point, I buy the shafts pre-made. Fuck trying to make a perfectly straight and round shaft without the proper tools! Flench, I sell em for between £160-£200. Probably better off buying something stateside for that kind of money. But if you really wanted I could probably do it. I know Gman was interested in buying one a few years ago before I was confident enough to sell them. So yeah if anyone really wants one and wants to also have to pay extra for shipping then let me know. It's important to note though that these are primitive style selfbows, not perfect shop items. They tend to follow the string after a year or so. I make and use them for the love of the craft. They are hard work for the energy that comes out. A decent 60lbs recurve made of carbon would shoot the same with less effort as this 90lb selfbow.

If you find out any info about the Agincourt anniversary shoot, send it my way, I'll fly over for that, and know several others that would as well. I've been out of Calgary for a couple years and lost touch, most probably know about it in the group there, I'll reach out tomorrow and find out. I'd hate to miss that, and all my relatives in Cornwall and London have been pestering us for ages to come back over (my last name is Cornish), so I have a free place to stay and will just "hire" a car for a couple weeks.
I wonder if they'll be able to muster over 1000 archers, I bet they can with such a popular subject matter - I have French friends I'd love to send that video to, haha. Quite a site it would be with cameras at the marks, watching volleys of 1000s of arrows coming down. Like I said, once I find it, I"ll post the video of just 60 or 70 of us firing volleys at our best rate is scary from both ends (cameras were behind the marks and on our end).
It would be a great holiday for me, as I'd come over early, I was born on Trafalgar Day, and always had an interest in the Navy before I even knew that at a young age, and would love to participate in both events, Trafalgar Day, Agincourt 600th, and then go up to Scotland and Ireland to see some fellow pipers from bands I know there (Field Marshall Montgomery is one of the world's best and 3 pipers from Canada I played with are there with them now).

HAH! I found out more about it already - Batfink did you know it's taking place on the original battle ground, us archers will be shooting rubber tipped arrows with proper original white feather fletching, and there is actually going to be French re enactors in full armor marching on us as targets? Who could say no to that? LOL. I can't wait to paste a bunch of French actors in armor with long range rubber arrows. You need to bring 30 of your own, I already have a contact who is making them if you wish to just buy them, should be fairly inexpensive. The Agincourt Alliance is handling all of this, it looks like a blast. www.azincourt-alliance.org.uk/
